Scott Puncochar won the race; Greg Walters won the war.
Puncochar, of Hillsboro, picked up his second win in as many Coors Light Crate Engine Late Model races at Sunset Speedway, while Greg Walters, of hometown Banks, won the season points championship.
For Walters, who placed fourth in the main event, it was his fourth series championship in as many seasons.
For Puncochar, it was his third win at the track this season.
In the A-Main event, polesitter Jason Wines of Lebanon took the initial lead, but Branden Lindberg of Monroe, Wash., went by for the lead by the second lap.
Puncochar, meanwhile, started in the 11th spot, but quickly made his way through the pack and made his way to the sixth spot by the 10th lap.
Jerry Schram of Vancouver, Wash., who entered the night one point behind Walters, was making his final challenge for the points lead and made his way to second behind Lindberg by the 10th lap.
Schram went after Lindberg for the lead, but couldn't get around him and Puncochar got by for second on the 26th lap.
Puncochar had something for Lindberg and went by the youngster for the lead on the 32nd lap and was out in front the rest of the way.
Lindberg settled for second with Schram in third, Walters in fourth and Eric Sayre in fifth. Jimmy Schram came home sixth, Steve Moore was seventh, Jason Wines in eighth, Jeremy Schram in ninth and John Ireland rounded out the top 10.
Jeremy Schram won the B-Main event with uncle Jimmy Schram in second, Jesse Freeman in third, newcomer Ronnie Saner in fourth and Robby Ireland in fifth.
Walters won the trophy dash in front of Puncochar, Suckow and Moore.
Jeff Biffle of Vancouver, Wash., Lindberg and Jesse Freeman were the heat race winners.
Moore set fast time yet again with a lap of 13.770 with Puncochar in second and Steve Suckow in third.
Walters finished the season with 1079 points, eight more than Schram. Jimmy Schram finished third with 1013, Eric Sayre in fourth with 993 and Lindberg in fifth with 951.
There is one non-points race left in the Sunset Speedway schedule for the late models: The Sunset Challenge on Sept. 20. In that race, one driver completes the first half of the race and another finishes the race.
